Women’s difficulty with pull-ups is about more than biology | Fit and Feminist
Now I’m super curious how many pull-ups I can do. But, ironically, I don’t even approach the part of the gym where I could do them because it’s full of dudes and one of the few things that can ruin a gym trip for me is some nice sexual harassment. ^_^ (inb4 ~but not all dudes are sexual harassers just give them a chaaaance~)
I will say, though, that I’ve been ridiculously pleased by the responses from friends, partners, and even family members since I’ve started building muscle (which I’ve been doing for…about 8 months now holy crap). Only a few people have even attempted to give me any shit about how it’s “unfeminine.” Most people think it’s cool. I’m just happy to have something back that I haven’t had since childhood, which is the ability to enjoy a physical activity without immediately wondering if it’s going to bring me any closer to looking like a magazine cover.
(Although if I see a muscular woman on the cover of a magazine that isn’t a magazine about muscles I will be really happy)
